Great store! I originally went in because of a cool vintage dress they had in the window. It was well out of my price range, but I walked out of the store with a cool shirt and nice dress that I could afford. The staff was incredibly friendly (I think my cashier's name was Isabella, but it says Isabee on my receipt?) and I will definitely return again. Highly recommend!

That said, I also agree with the other reviewers who've commented on the staff's attitude. There were four young women about my age sitting in the store when I entered, chatting & looking strangely cliquey for a store. I was a little intimidated off the bat, as they didn't acknowledge me & it almost seemed like I'd walked into someone's private party. They paid me absolutely no attention (which is fine, I was shopping!) as they gossiped about a party & some friend they didn't like - until I asked if there was more upstairs. The girl behind the desk told me she'd need to store my purse - my little purse! - behind the front desk if I wanted to go up. I saw literally NO signs that said that ANYwhere, so I didn't know if it was an actual policy or if I just somehow looked untrustworthy because I was, like, wearing a hoodie?! I guess I'm glad to see that it's not just me, but there should be signs up clearly stating that policy, if they insist upon having it.

Via Gypset has an incredibly cool selection of clothing, jewelry, & accessories. So many pretty things! The store has a hip, cozy feel to it, like you're exploring your hip grandmother's very well-put-together attic closets. It's decorated colorfully & with a quirky, vintage feel - lace against exposed brick, old clocks & china on the walls, weathered photographs throughout. I loved the intentional decor with the eclectic clothing, all of it in great condition, very clean, well-pressed, etc. This isn't one of those consignment stores that feels like a gross thrift store. If I were a size or two smaller, I think I would've found a ton of gems to choose from.

I hadn't read the reviews before trying Via Gypset, just spotted it on my walk home one day & thought I'd check it out. After about 30 minutes spent browsing, I can say I agree with a lot of these reviews, both positive & negative.

Love the assortment of clothes, house-wares, and accessories! Truly contains hidden gems and the selection is not picked over like a lot of what the area has to offer. Friendly staff but not in-your-face annoying. Great café downstairs with a quaint neighborhood feel that is sometimes hard to find in D.C.

My favorite vintage shop in the city. I always leave with some interesting new work clothes (business casual) and really fun vintage pieces in great condition.

I lived in DC for a spell and going to VG was a great experience. The selection was awesome, the prices were good, and when I took in to consign, it was a pleasure. I got a check in a timely way and overall, it was the best secondhand designer shop I've been in -- including several spots in my hometown of Chicago. Highly recommended!

Frankly, I found the policy obnoxious enough that I nearly left instead of going upstairs. The employee who asked for my bag was just so damn snooty about it that it was really off-putting. When I did go upstairs for a bit, though, I tried on a few things & waffled on a cute Zara dress. Ultimately, though, I left empty-handed because I honestly didn't want to have to interact any further with the staff, so I didn't bother. It's a cute place, but their staff needs an attitude check. I don't think I'll be back.
